Liz J. Pope was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Liz graduated from the University of Georgia in 1994, summa cum laude, with an A.B. degree in Political Science and Speech Communications. While at the University of Georgia, Liz was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Liz then received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia, Lumpkin School of Law, in 1997. Liz practiced as a litigation associate in Atlanta where she concentrated in the areas of employment law, local government law, corporate law, trusts and estates, collection law and general civil litigation. Her employment law experience encompassed the defense of both nationwide and small employers in 26 states regarding lawsuits brought under: Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, retaliation, defamation, and state human rights laws.
Liz has been a three time guest speaker at employer seminars conducted by the Georgia Department of Labor. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals and all Georgia State and Superior Courts. Liz is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Alcovy Bar Association, the Newton County Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. Liz has been actively involved with Habitat for Humanity and is active in her UMWgroup with the First United Methodist Church of Covington where she currently serves as President. Liz resides in Covington with Greg and their two children.
